The Columbian - Vancouver, WA - October 26, 2009 - The deaths of two teens prompted the birth of Unite 4 Life three years ago. Within just a few months, two Livermore High School students died by suicide. A resident of the California community, Aaron Chidester, realized he didn’t want to stand by idly as local teens were hurting. So he researched depression and suicide prevention programs implemented across the country and created his own curriculum aimed at middle and high school students, parents, community members and school employees. A community task force of youth pastors, police officers and concerned parents rallied around Chidester and helped him put his plan into action, and Unite 4 Life was born.

Ruidoso Struggles After 4 Teen Suicides
AP - Ruidoso, NM - October 17, 2009 - Authorities and school officials in the Ruidoso area are helping students deal with what is believed to be a string of teenage suicides. In the last two months, three teenagers and a 24-year-old have committed suicide. The teenagers were students in the Ruidoso and Mescalero school districts. Mescalero Police Chief William Mitchell says two died from gunshot wounds and two died from hangings.
